According to the BritishAirportAuthority (BAA), which operates many of the UK's major airports, the adverse weather has caused significant disruption to airports in the south-east of the country in particular.
Stephen Hardwick, from the BritishAirportAuthority, which runs Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead said efforts were already being made to limit the impact of noise and air pollution and road congestion around the airports.
