The decisions they make now--move beyond footwear? sell shoes under other brand names? place a big bet outside the U.S.?--could determine whether this company will become the next Nike or another Greenberg disaster.
Facebook has shown it is a heavy in the classic Internet business of acquiring users and serving ads to them, but its ability to invent and play another card will determine whether it is the dominant actor of this era or just another (big) company.
