Bartholomeusz says he can ramp up production extraordinarily quickly because he can simply order new machines from the hard disk equipment maker (and AQT partner) Intevac.
Then AQT sells its cells to assemblers who can cheaply wire the cells into modules with the same equipment they already use to make silicon-based modules.
The target for AQT and most CIGS makers is First Solar, which has become the largest solar company in the world selling its thin film modules made out of cadmium and telluride.
