The subalpine forests are dominated by lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta), P. albicaulis and alpine fir (Abies lasiocarpa).

Edelweiss is a Heidi-style alpine hideout in the middle of the town, with cosy timbered rooms featuring wild-flower-painted pine bed-heads.
