By using consumer technology to perform work tasks, employees no longer have to squeeze everything into a typical eight-hour shift, and they can add nearly an hour to their workday.
These do not add up to an ideological revolution so much as a big shift in power away from narrow, outdated interest-groups and towards the interests of the majority of Japanese.
