Some believe homosexual activity is wrong, but accept that individuals cannotchange their make-up: many of them therefore accept gay and lesbian clergy who remain celibate, giving their sexuality no expression and living solitary lives.
But all of us have to have the humility to accept that public confidence has been shaken and the battered reputation of this institution cannot be repaired without fundamental change.
