飞行力学是以空气动力学为基础的研究飞行器运动规律和特性的飞行器设计领域的系统、综合性学科，在失速机动战斗机、无人作战飞机、大型运输机、大型客机等领域有着广泛的应用。飞行力学目前主要向气动/结构/控制/飞行力学一体化研究方向发展，通过建立一体化的设计技术和方法，以实现飞行器动力学特性及任务能力最优的设计目标，解决新概念飞行器等涉及的特殊飞行力学问题。飞行力学领域的著名专家有陈士橹院士、庄逢甘院士等。
