顺序变量（ordinal variable）亦称“等级变量”。心理变量的一种。其值仅表明事物属性在数量大小、多少上的次序的变量。可通过顺序量表观测。其各个数值之间的距离不一定相等，也没有一定的比例关系。一般说来，顺序变量之间可运用中位数、百分位数、等级相关系数、Y0检验、肯德尔和谐系数以及秩次的方差分析等统计方法。如，把所有参赛运动员根据其到达终点所花时间依次排为“第一名”、“第二名”……显然，第一名与第二名之间的时间差并不等于第二名与第三名之间的时间差，仅表明他们之间的顺序关系，并且既不具有绝对零点，也不能作比率性的陈述。
