铁闪锌矿是闪锌矿的一种。一般闪锌矿含铁8%以上时称为铁闪锌矿，铁闪锌矿含铁的多少往往取决于矿床成因和矿床的形成过程。随着含Fe量增加颜色变暗，有时还可含少量Mn和Gd，含Gd多者称“镉闪锌矿”。此外还可含有微量Ge、In、Ga、Tl等类质同象混入物，也多含Cu、Sn、Sb、Bi等机械混入物。
