配位原子指的是配位化合物中直接和中心原子（或离子）配位的配位体的原子。配位原子提供孤对电子被中心离子接受形成配位键。例F、I、Br等电负性较大的非金属元素的原子常为配位原子。配位原子必须具有孤对电子。一个单齿配体只能提供一个配位原子，而多齿配体可有两个或两个以上的配位原子。
