郭公山位于鹿城区西北隅，原名西郭山。据传东晋郭骥曾登临此山察看地形，选址建城，改称郭公山。面积7.5公顷，海拔17.2米。依靠着滚滚的瓯江，对岸就是温州著名的江心屿。
研究结果表明，疑山郭公虫对树干内纵坑切梢小蠹幼期（幼虫和蛹）的捕食率大体为10.6%。
