边缘效应 是指在两个或两个以上不同性质的生态系统交互作用处，由于某些生态因子(物质、能量、信息、时机或地域)或系统属性的差异和协合作用而引起系统某些组分及行为的较大变化。边缘效应在其性质上可分为正效应和负效应，正效应表现出效应区(交错区、交接区、边缘区)比相邻生态系统具有更为优良的特性，如生产力提高、物种多样性增加等、反之。称为负效应。
