辅道指的是设在道路的一侧或两侧，供不允许驶入或准备由出入口驶入该道路的车辆或拖拉机等行驶的道路。辅道是公路的一个名词，是在公路维修或者起到公路分流作用的辅助道路。他分临时辅道和永久辅道两种。临时辅道就是说在公路进行维修的时候会建造的以保证车流通行，这些道路在正道建成后就会被拆除；永久辅道是在一些车流量比较大的道路旁边修建的，是用于车道分流作用的。
原有的交通可以走辅道，而且桥下的换填土将来还可以再用来做桥梁的引道。
