辅助生产是工业企业内部为基本生产服务而进行的产品和劳务供应，如水、电、汽的供应，专用工具的制造以及机器设备的维修 等。这些产品和劳务有时也对外销售，但不是辅助生产的主要任务。辅助生产所发生的各项费用通过“辅助生产”帐户进行归集和分配。该帐户属于成本计算帐户，一般应按辅助生产车间以及产品或劳务的种类设置明细帐，按成本项目分设专栏。借方归集辅助生产费用的发生额，其中部分费用可直接记入，如材料费、工人工资费用等，但对于辅助生产车间的管理费则应先记入“车间经费”帐户借方，然后再从其贷方转入“辅助生产”帐户的借方。当车间经费数目不大时，亦可不通过“车间经费”帐户而直接记入“辅助生产”帐户的借方，该帐户的贷方登记辅助生产完工产品或劳务的成本，按受益单位分配转入基本生产、管理部门或其他部门，期末借方余额反映辅助生产的在产品成本。辅助生产通常不负担企业管理费，但对外单位或本企业的独立核算单位提供的产品或劳务则要负担企业管理费。
