轴索 是神经纤维的组成部分，神经纤维内部是轴索，外面包绕着髓鞘，其中轴索是由许多神经元轴突和长的树突构成。 轴杆axostyle 亦称轴索。是多鞭毛虫类形成身体中轴的棒状构造，电镜检查呈多数微细小管集合体。丝滴虫的轴杆呈单一的棒状，但涡鞭毛虫类则为多数细丝的集合体。 在神经纤维的中轴，见粗细不等，呈紫蓝色者，即轴索。
