转基因番茄即转基因的番茄，转基因食品的一种。 番茄（ Solanum lycopersicum ）是一种世界性蔬菜，在蔬菜生产中占有举足轻重的地位，也是基础生物学研究中的重要对象和模式植物，在所有蔬菜作物中番茄的研究文献居于首位。由于番茄研究深入，而且易于转化，转基因番茄研究与应用得到了迅速的发展。随着转基因技术的成熟与发展，越来越多的转基因番茄已被研制成功，并逐步走向产业化阶段。本文就目前转基因番茄的研究以及产业化情况进行概述，为进一步进行转基因番茄研究工作提供重要的基础信息，同时也为进行转基因番茄的管理和研究提供理论基础。耐贮存转基因番茄是世界上最早批准进入商业化种植的转基因作物之一。截至201 1年年底，国外共批准6例转基因番茄的商业化种植，其中5例为延熟(耐贮存)番茄，1例为抗虫番茄。中国批准3例耐贮存、1例抗病毒转基因番茄，目前均未大规模商业化种植。
