足背动脉系胫前动脉的延续部分。此动脉在足背的内侧(位置浅表，很易触知，为一摸脉点)，走向第1跖骨间隙分为两个终支：一支为足底深支，从第1跖骨间隙穿向足底，与足底外侧动脉构成足底弓；另一支弓形向外至足背的外缘称为弓形动脉，由弓向远侧发出4个分支，行于各跖骨间隙内，向前分布各趾的相对面，且与足底弓所发出的相应分支吻合，血栓闭塞性脉管炎常发生在此动脉，尤其是伸向趾端的分支更易发生。
