角瓜别名也叫西葫芦（学名：Cucurbita pepo L）一年生草质藤本（蔓生），有矮生、半蔓生、蔓生三大品系。多数品种主蔓优势明显，侧蔓少而弱。 角瓜是矮生品种节间短，蔓长通常在50㎝以下，在日光温室中有时可达1m（因生长期长）；半蔓生品种一般约80cm；蔓生品种一般长达数米。具叶卷须，属攀援藤本，但常匍匐生长（矮生品种有的直立）。单叶，大型，掌状深裂，互生（矮生品种密集互生），叶面粗糙多刺。叶柄长而中空。有的品种叶片绿色深浅不一，近叶脉处有银白色花斑。
