表面抗原是指包围在细菌菌体抗原外表的抗原，它的存在可干扰菌体抗原与相应抗体的结合。肺炎球菌的荚膜抗原，某些革兰氏阴性杆菌的表面抗原如大肠杆菌的K抗原、伤寒杆菌的Vi抗原等。在淋巴细胞表面上能被特异性抗体（如单克隆抗体）所识别的表面分子。由于表面抗原是在淋巴细胞分化过程中产生的，故又称为分化抗原。由于抗原的识别是用单抗，不同实验室单抗名称不同，所以出现了同一种抗原多种命名。为避免混淆，1983年以分化群（CD）统一命名淋巴细胞表面抗原。至今已有130余种抗原。
