虚烦是因虚而致心胸烦热者。由伤寒汗、吐、下后，邪热乘虚客于胸中，或病后余热留恋，或津涸、血虚、肾亏、虚人停痰饮、虚劳等所致。多兼见郁闷不寐、口干咽燥等症。
解表，除烦，宣发郁热。用于感冒、寒热头痛，烦躁胸闷，虚烦不眠。
