TrapaL.菱属（拉丁学名：Trapa L.）桃金娘目，菱科一年生浮水或半挺水草本植物，根二型，即除吸收根外，尚有一种含叶绿素、沉于水中的同化根排列于叶柄基部的两侧；叶菱形，旋叠状，突出水面，边缘有小锯齿，叶柄膨大，海绵质；花小，白色，腋生，单生；有时具刺；花盘波状；子房半下位，胚珠单生，下垂；果革质，有角。 约30种，广布于东半球，中国约5种，中国均产之，其中菱T.bicornisOsbeck果实含丰富的淀粉，供食用。
