苯甲酸苄酯，无色油状液体，熔点21℃。沸点324℃。闪点146℃。不溶于水。微溶于丙二酞。溶于油、乙醇、乙醚。具有清淡的类似杏仁的香气，味辣。可以苯甲酸钠和苄基氯为原料，进行合成反应而得。主要用作人造麝香、香兰素等香料的溶剂，花香型香精的定香剂及依兰等香精的调合香料。临床上用于疥疮，也用于体虱、头虱和阴虱。
