自动重合闸(automatic reclosing switch)断路器因某种故障原因分闸后,利用机械装置或继电自动装置使其自动重新合闸的设施。如电力系统发生的故障是暂时性的,经继电保护装置使断路器跳闸切断电源后,经预定时间再使其自动重合,如故障已自动消除,线路即重新恢复供电;如故障是持续性的,则断路器再次被跳闸,不再重合。按重合次数,分一次重合闸和多次重合闸;按相数,分三相和单相自动重合闸;按使用场合,分单侧电源和双侧电源自动重合闸。
