脊膜瘤起源于蛛网膜内皮细胞或硬脊膜的纤维细胞，是一种良性脊髓肿瘤。主要发病于40～70岁的女性。通常采用外科手术治疗，预后良好，复发率极低。病损部位绝大多数脊膜瘤位于硬膜下髓外，与硬膜关系密切。其中部分发生在胸椎位置的硬膜下。在肿瘤的发生发展过程中，可先后累及齿状韧带、脊神经根、蛛网膜及脊髓。
