胸的上界为颈部下界，下界为骨性胸廓下口，外界为三角肌前后缘，是人体第二大体腔局部。该局部分为胸腔和胸腔内容两部；胸腔又分为胸壁和膈；胸壁借腋前、后线又分为前、侧和后壁，其中后壁称背部属脊柱区内容；胸腔内容又分为中间的纵隔和两侧的肺及胸膜。 胸部的境界，体表标志及胸部标志线的划分。胸壁的浅、深筋膜的特点，浅静脉的配布及交通关系，皮神经的分布，固有胸壁的构成。肺及胸膜反折线的体表投影，心脏及大血管的体表投影及临床意义。 胸部的肉体几乎是脂肪为主，除脂肪外胸部最大的成分是乳腺。
