胆汁淤积(cholestasis)是由于胆汁分泌及排泄障碍引起的一种病理生理过程，表现为肝脏以及体循环内胆酸、胆固醇及胆红素等胆汁成分的过度堆积，造成对肝细胞及机体的损伤，长期持续的胆汁淤积将进展为肝纤维化甚至肝硬化。 最常见的肝内原因是病毒性肝炎或其他肝炎，药物中毒性和酒精性肝病。较少见的原因包括原发性胆汁性肝硬化，妊娠期胆汁淤积，转移性肝癌以及其他一些不常见的疾病。
