肺透明膜病（hyaline membrane disease；HMD）又名特发性呼吸窘迫综合征或新生儿呼吸窘迫综合征（respiratory distress syndrome；RDS），系指生后不久由于进行性肺不张而出现的进行性呼吸困难、青紫、呼气性呻吟、吸气性三凹及呼吸衰竭；病理上以终末细支气管至肺泡壁上附有嗜伊红性透明膜为特征。一般见于早产儿，主要因表面活性物质不足而导致肺不张，故又称“表面活性物质缺乏综合征”它是引起早产儿早期呼吸困难及死亡的最常见原因。
（三）新生儿 肺透明膜病 （ hyaline membrane disease ） 是由于肺表面活性物质缺乏导致肺泡进行性萎陷的疾病，其病理特征为肺泡壁至终 末细支气管壁上附有嗜伊红的透明膜。
