系股动脉的分支之一。此动脉在腹股沟韧带下方3～4cm处，自股动脉发出，为营养大腿肌肉的主要血管。股深动脉先在股动脉的内侧，以后行在股动脉的深方，在股内侧肌与内收肌间又发出旋股内侧动脉，旋股外侧动脉，穿动脉，营养其所分布区域的肌肉。股部外伤、骨折、肿瘤、脓肿等手术时应注意处理此动脉。
