2010年是波兰伟大作曲家和钢琴家肖邦诞辰200周年，波兰参众两院此前决定把2010年命名为“肖邦年”。在一年时间内，全球几十个国家将举办2000余场音乐会、电影、展览等活动，纪念这位波兰音乐家。
1810年2月12日，肖邦出生于波兰华沙郊区的热拉佐瓦沃拉。 他的父亲尼古拉斯是具有波兰血统的法国人，而母亲却是一位纯粹的波兰人。
