凡是以优质铝矾土和优质石灰为原料，按一定比例配合成适量成分的生料，经过烧结后所得以铝酸盐为主要成分的熟料，再磨成细粉，制成具有耐火性的水硬性胶凝材料，称为耐火水泥。耐火水泥的耐火度不低于1580摄氏度。按组成不同可分为铝酸盐耐火水泥、低钙铝酸盐耐火水泥、钙镁铝酸盐水泥和白云石耐火水泥等。
