过共析碳素钢、合工钢、高碳铬轴承钢等钢材在轧后冷却过程中，在Acm～Ar1温度范围内，浓度过高的碳以碳化物形式沿奥氏体晶粒边界析出，包围着奥氏体晶粒，在显微镜下呈现网状，叫网状碳化物。 这是钢材的一种组织缺陷。一般说来，热加工终了温度越高，随后冷却越慢时，网状碳化物也越严重。网状碳化物的存在，削弱了金属间的结合力，使钢的力学性能降低．尤其使冲击韧性下降，脆性增加，它易引起沿晶开裂，并降低钢的耐磨性。放大500倍检查，不得超过三级。
