缺如，也称隐语、隐缺、漏字，在楹联中是一种特殊的表现手法。这种手法故意将尾字或联句中的一字隐去，并以联中展现之字向读者暗示所缺之字，而该联的意思又正是在空缺的字上，联句仍能形成很规矩的对仗。细心的人从展现的字面上不难看出联中所藏之意。用漏字法制作的楹联，一般具有谜语的功能，或戏谑，或嘲讽，谜味隽永，猜趣无穷，很好地显示了其巧对的艺术魅力。
