竞争效应指由竞争带来的改进。竞争将会改变垄断的思维定势、服务意识，改变垄断的低效率，降低垄断的高成本，在一国的情况下，国内的主要工业部门，如高科技部门、重化工业部门等都会形成某种程度的垄断，这种垄断在一定程度上不利于国内竞争局面的形成，而且这些部门在保持长期稳定的情况下，缺乏竞争压力，进而缺乏技术进步的动力。组建经济一体化组织之后，各国的垄断企业在一个较大的市场中变成了竞争企业。
