种皮 seed coat，sporoderm 指被覆于种子周围的皮。种皮来自于珠被（母本）。随种子的成熟，胚珠的珠被经不同程度的变化而形成，虽然多少有例外，但裸子植物和被子植物合瓣花类是由一层构成的，离瓣花类和单子叶植物是由二层构成的。由二层构成的种皮，特分为内种皮和外种皮。 有些植物由于种子外有坚硬的果皮，种皮结构简单到只是一层膜质结构，如李、杏等。禾本科植物的种皮由于外珠被被破坏，内珠被被挤压变形，紧帖果皮并与之愈合，最后种皮萎缩解体，如玉米、小麦等。
