秋茄即秋茄树，Kandelia candel (Linn.) Druce / Kandelia obovata，是红树科秋茄树属植物，红树林的常见品种，果实形状似笔，成熟后跟茄子非常相似。 这种植物是红树林中是福建常见种类，也是最能够耐寒的种类，向北可以分布到邻省浙江，除在福建外在海南、广西、广东、台湾、香港的海湾都有分布。在从外滩到内滩的区域里都有分布，多生长在河流入海口海湾较平坦的泥滩上。
