磁层（英文：Magnetosphere），是指在太阳风和行星磁场的相互作用下，行星原来磁场的磁力线被太阳风压缩在一个有限的空间。位于地球周围、被太阳风包围并受地磁场控制的等离子体区域。其作用是保护地球不被太阳风袭击。 磁层的概念是英国的S.查普曼于20世纪30年代首先提出来的。50～60年代，人造地球卫星对地球高带电粒子区域的探测，证实了地球磁层的存在。磁层一词最早专指地球磁层，随着对其他天体磁层的探测和研究逐渐增多，磁层一词就泛指所有天体的磁层。
