硫氰酸（英文名称sulfocyanic acid）又名硫代氰酸（thiocyanic acid）为无色、易挥发、具有强烈气味的酸性液体，0℃以下析出晶体，能溶于水，呈强酸性。稀溶液比较稳定。加热或与硫氢酸及无机酸作用，则分解为各种氰化物，与烯烃反应生成酯。分子式为HSCN，结构式为H—S—C≡N。硫氰酸存在另一异构体即H—N=C=S。游离酸是二者的互变异构的混合物，尚无法使之分离开来，但其酯类则有两种形式。（正）硫氰酸酯R—S—C≡N 一般是带有葱气味的液体。异硫氰酸酯R—N=C=S常称芥子油，是带有异常刺激气味的液体。硫氰酸有毒，对眼睛和皮肤又刺激作用。与两价金属生成的盐分子式为M(SCN)2（M代表两价的金属离子，例如Mg2+、Ca2+、Zn2+等）。
