硝化反应是向有机物分子中引入硝基的反应过程。脂肪族化合物硝化时有氧化-断键副反应，工业上很少采用。硝基甲烷、硝基乙烷、1-和2-硝基丙烷四种硝基烷烃气相法生产过程，是30年代美国商品溶剂公司开发的。迄今该法仍是制取硝基烷烃的主要工业方法。此外，硝化也泛指氮的氧化物的形成过程。
