知识获取是指从专家或其他专门知识来源汲取知识并向知识型系统（见知识工程）转移的过程或技术。知识获取和知识型系统建立是交叉进行的。知识型系统初建时，一般只获取最必需的知识，以后随着系统的调试和运行而逐步积累新的知识。对知识库进行扩充和更新时，需要检查新老知识的相容性，以维持知识库的整体性，还要对新补充的知识分类存储，以供运用。
