动眼、滑车、外展神经具有支配眼球眼外肌运动的功能，称为眼球运动神经。当上述神经或神经核单独或合并受损时，可出现眼球运动不能或复视，完全损害时出现眼外肌全部瘫痪，眼球固定不动。眼外肌损伤、感染或肌病导致的眼外肌麻痹，也可出现眼球运动不能，临床统称为眼球运动障碍。 此处主要叙述眼球运动神经或神经核受损时出现的眼球运动障碍。眼球运动障碍对颅底病变、脑干病变及脑神经病变的定位诊断具有重要的临床意义。
