相对方位是是以首向为基准计量的方位。 首向是运载体纵轴的轴向在水平面的投影方向，用基准线和该方向之间的夹角表示。以基准线顺时针方向计量。 从地面上一点到天空一点或地面上另一点的方向，用这两点的连线在水平面的投影与基准方向之间的夹角表示。该表示方式也称方位角。
恢复外方位包括了相对方位(Relative Orientation)之恢复及绝对方位(Absolute Orientaion)之恢复。
