目赤肿痛(swelling and pain of eye)为多种眼部疾患中的一个急性症状。古代文献根据发病原因、症状急重和流行性，又称“风热眼”、“暴风客热”、“天行赤眼”等。 目赤肿痛常见于西医学的急性结膜炎、假性结膜炎以及流行性角膜炎等，认为由细菌或病毒感染，或过敏而导致。
一目赤肿痛患者，予磺胺嘧啶眼药水滴眼的同时，口服清热泻火、祛风散邪之中药，无效；
