百里酚，白色结晶或结晶性粉末，与香芹酚是同分异构体，由于被发现于百里香中而得名。有令人愉快的芳香气味。溶于乙醇等有机溶剂，微溶于水和甘油。有强烈的腐蚀作用，是很强的防腐剂，用于控制蜜蜂上的瓦螨数量、书籍装订以及添加至三氟氯溴乙烷中作为麻醉剂。
