白背飞虱是同翅目、飞虱科动物，别名火蠓子，火旋。我国南至海南岛，北至黑龙江各稻区，东南亚各国均有分布。成虫有长翅型和短翅型两种。长翅型成虫体长4-5毫米，呈灰黄色，头顶较狭，突出在复眼前方，颜面部有3条凸起纵脊，脊色淡，沟色深，黑白分明，胸背小盾板中央长有1个五角形的白色或蓝白色斑。主要危害水稻、麦类、玉米、高粱。
