电极糊是供给铁合金炉、电石炉等电炉设备使用的导电材料。电极糊也称自焙电极，它是依靠矿热炉内的热量完成焙烧的，因此，电极的消耗速度与焙烧速度相匹配是电极糊使用的关键，由于，矿热炉技术的发展，逐步向大型化、密闭化方向发展，电极在焙烧过程中由过去开放式炉型获得的较多的传导热和辐射热减少只有为传导热一种，因此电极从炉内获得的热量大幅减少，这就要求提高电极糊的烧结性能来弥补这一不足。
