生产自救是失业工人自己组织起来进行生产，国家给予一定的帮助，以解决失业工人的生活困难的一种救济办法。采取何种形式的生产自救方式，根据具体情况而定。中国解放初期针对旧社会遗留下来的大量失业工人曾采用过这一办法，对于维护社会的稳定，广开就业门路，解决失业工人的实际困难起了重要作用。
第四条失业保险应当与职业介绍、就业训练和生产自救等再就业服务相结合。
