理工科是一个广大的领域，包含物理、化学、生物、工程、天文、数学及前面六大类的各种运用与组合的科目。理工科是一个统称，也就包括理科和工科，统称为理工科。其中理科包括数学，物理学，化学，生物学等理学学科。工科包括机械，土木工程，建筑学等工学学科。虽然是统称，但是理科与工科是有区别的。理科学科注重理论研究，工科学科注重实际操作。或者换句话说就是:“理科培养科学家，工科培养工程师”。
