茎基腐病是由多种病原菌单独或复合侵染造成根系和茎基腐烂的一类病害，主要由腐霉菌和镰刀菌侵染引起，在玉米植株上表现的症状就有所不同。其中腐霉菌生长的最适温度为23～25℃，镰刀菌生长的最适温度为25～26℃，在土壤中腐霉菌生长要求湿度条件较镰刀菌高。
