猫鸟是一种国家保护野生动物。又名猫声鸟，猫鹊。猫鸟的名字就源于它像猫叫一样的刺耳叫声。一般在发怒或伤心的时候，它会发出这种叫声，但是它的叫声旋律美妙；和模仿鸟一样，猫鸟也能模仿别的鸟的叫声。猫鸟身长大约9英寸（23厘米），颜色为石板灰色，但国家保护野生动物和鸟尾是黑色。
