热解油是污泥热解的目标产物，是污泥中有机物受热分解的蒸汽经冷凝后得到的产物。热解油包括水和有机物两部分，这两部分的比例也与热解条件有很大关系，水相所占比例为热解油质量的2%～10%，水相的pH值在8左右，是由于污泥分解所产生的溶于水的低分子含氮有机物呈弱碱性。水相中含有一些可溶性的醇、脂肪酸和酯等低分子有机物，在水中的比例为2%左右。热解油是一种含有多种有机物的复杂混合物，因有机组分性质的不同，会出现分层现象。
